Deep Rural Water Bore Installation

Mooliabeenee

The Challenge
Properties throughout the Mooliabeenee and Gingin regions can present challenges for groundwater drilling. The geology often requires drilling through deep sand and clay layers before reaching stable aquifers. As groundwater is typically found at greater depths in this area, careful drilling and bore construction are important to maintain stability and minimise sand entering the bore.

Our Approach
Before drilling, we reviewed regional bore data to help estimate the expected drilling depth and suitable target zone. Using a truck-mounted drilling rig with a high-pressure air system, our crew drilled through the varying ground conditions while maintaining a stable bore to the target aquifer.

The Result
The bore intercepted a water-bearing zone and was completed to a depth of 83 metres. It was lined with heavy-wall PVC casing and fitted with slotted screens suited to the water-bearing section.

Following air-lift development, the bore produced clean water, providing the property with a reliable water source for rural use.
